About The Crossing Land Camp
The Crossing Land Camp is next to the Bermagui River estuary and 15 minutes drive from the coastal town of Bermagui on the Far South Coast of NSW.
The 24ha (50acre) property is a conservation forest between coastal national parks and farmland. The wilderness coast can be accessed as part of 2 or 3 day walks from the camp.
The camp’s sustainable permaculture design has evolved with help from thousands of young people who have contributed to the large Landcare project and gardens.
Biamanga National Park adjoins the property. The Crossing has the support of the Park’s Aboriginal owners for camping and research.

The firepit next to covered outdoor classroom space is the gathering space with gardens below the community hall and a breakfast nook where teachers often catch the first rays of sun or enjoy the stars at night with the wood fire on to heat the bedrooms and bunkrooms through the winter months using the hydronic hot water heaters.

Student accommodation
(in our converted train carriage bunkhouse)
Our converted train carriage bunkhouse is great example of recycling!
The carriage was on the old Gippsland line from Melbourne to Bairnsdale, and dates to the 1930’s! We know because we found an old ticket in one of the rooms.
The bunkrooms are cozy and comfortable with verandah access and heating powered by our wood-fired hydronic system.
The three 1930’s train carriage bunk rooms each sleep eight students, with an additional bunkroom of four students next to the train carriage.
