Sea to Snow Training 2021 (Yr 10 -11)

‘A journey with altitude’

The Sea to Snow Training Camp and Journey happens annually!

The Sea to Snow Training & Journey targets Year 10 Students and 11 students (you need to be fit and well organised).  Candidates for the journey must first complete a 3 day training camp to be eligible for consideration for the Journey.

The journey is 250km from the sea to the Snowy Mountains in NSW, Australia by hike and bike.

Sea to Snow students have persistence, positive teamwork and leadership qualities. These qualities are sought after by employers and by scholarship committees.

The Sea to Snow Journey can also be counted as an expedition for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award as the journey is split into two halves with a rest and reflection day incorporated (also allows for weather hold ups)

3 day Training Camp 12-14 August 2021 $390 or $490 with gear hire

9 day Journey from 24 September to 3 October 2021 $990 or $1190 with gear hire

(you can click here to pay for the 9 day journey once training is completed – a password will be given to you for this once you have met the preparation requirements)

Minimum 10 participants, maximum 12.

If money for the journey is an issue, you can email and ask us for subsidy support and we will send you 20 cookbooks you can sell.  The first Sea to Snowers came up with the idea of a Crossing recipe book that you can sell to help raise money and the cookbook helps explain the Sea to Snow journey with lots of pictures as well as being filled with yummy recipes for family groups of 4 plus quantities for 20 so it can be used for events.  Many of our Sea to Snowers have visited one of their local Rotary, Lions, Apex, CWA, Qouta, View or Probus clubs.  Often a parent or relative knows someone in one of these clubs.  Many Sea to Snow students have been successful at gaining the support of a club by playing a short Sea to Snow 3 minute film which are easy to download from The Crossing Land Education Trust youtube channel.  Half Journey scholarships for aboriginal students are also available from The Crossing with help from the Biamanga National Park Board of Management.

Sea to Snow Leadership Achievement – ‘Get into the wild and find yourself’

The Sea to Snow journey develops your leadership skills and confidence and provides life-long friendships.  It’s a stand-out achievement on your resume that starts conversations with new employers.

You may directly enter the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award if you are 16yrs or the Silver Award if you are 15yrs and work towards this award as part of Sea to Snow (but you must pay a separate fee to the Award Scheme for this). Once you have been accepted by The Crossing you can then do an online Duke of Edinburgh Award registration
