Program description

This program is ONLY available for Bega Valley Shire Students due to part funding support from the Bega Valley Shire Council. An additional subsidy from the Far South Coast Landcare Association for BVSC students whose families have been drought or fire affected is also available.

Learn about Landcare & firewise design in a fun and community focussed environment.  A perfect opportunity to make friends with young people from other schools in the Bega Valley Shire.

The games, campfires, canoeing and tree planting are great features of this camp with all meals provided.

The Landcare Adventure holiday camp starts with a Wednesday hiking journey to a remote bush tent site for the first night, exploring the forest as we go.  Packs, tents and foam mats are supplied (If the weather is not good, we have the option to walk on to The Crossing to stay in the converted train carriage bunkhouse for night 1 as well as for night 2 - the carriage is a great example of reusing something).

On Thursday, the second day, we are at The Crossing campsite by mid morning for canoe training which will take us to a Landcare forest planting project along the river to plant trees.  At the camp we will also harvest food, make yummy meals and snacks from our food forest garden and do tasks that make the camp better such as mulching the garden and collecting firewood and planting vegies and more. Towards the end of the day we will explore The Crossing forest and our log balancing maze challenge.

On Friday, the third and last day, we will take a short camp minibus journey to a remote rainforest creek walk and also look at recovery from the bushfires before returning to camp for lunch.  After lunch we finish with  a canoe journey to Bermagui for a 4pm arrival to the Bridge Boat Ramp.

The Crossing Land Education Trust, 392 Nutleys Ck Rd Bermagui  (but remember that the program begins on Nutleys Ck Rd 3 kms from Bermagui at the Mangans Ck Rd turnoff (where there are signs to Mundui and the living house) and finishes at Bermagui Bridge Boat Ramp (opposite Bridge Motors/Bermagui Bait and Tackle)

Refund Policy

Deposits are transferable for cancellations made more than 30 days in advance of program dates, less an administration charge of 20%. Cancellations with less than 30 days notice are liable for the full charge.  Part refunds will only be considered before the program starts for circumstances covered by a medical certificate.  If a participant has to end their adventure early for any reason, a refund will not apply. Participants may be permitted to join the program next year if they are eligible or transfer to another program of equivalent or greater value.
